THE RIDE & ROUTE
GO FOR BROKE IS A BIKE EVENT
WITH A DIFFERENCE.
We put you with similar skilled riders and have group captains to ensure we run tight peletons and have a fun and safe ride. As well as each rider getting a Go for Broke Jersey for the event your entry fee means all peletons have a support vehicle with food and drinks stops en route, rider cover from Cycling NSW and discounts on accommodation around Broke. But with 165km in your legs, if you’re up for it, you can GO FOR BROKE in the last 15km.
We’d like each rider to raise at least $250 for Lifeline and the great work they do. The competition will start even before the ride begins as we see which individual raises the most money and gets to wear the coveted Top Fund Raiser Jersey on the day.
The course starts in Berowra in Sydney’s North and heads to Broke in the Hunter Valley via Berowra Waters, Wisemans Ferry and Central Mangrove. There is a KOM at the 120km mark where riders will have a 2km lead in as well at the very important last 15km where, after 165km, you’ll need to work hard to GO FOR BROKE.
While your friends and family gather at the finish line, Go for Broke have worked with the great township of Broke to have a country fete selling local produce, arts and crafts. For riders and their families that stay for the weekend, on Saturday night there will be a BBQ dinner awards night and a recovery ride on Sunday morning. To top off a great weekend there will be a tour of the local vineyards where you can sample the local wines before heading home.
Here at GO FOR BROKE, as well as a great ride, we want to ensure everyone has a chance to meet the locals and make some great friends. For us it’s all about beating depression. Help us have a great weekend, help us beat depression.
