Go for Broke is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers. We want to promote how cycling and cycling with friends can make a difference. For both guys and girls, young and old, from whatever walk of life you’re from, we want to share how riding through exercise and riding with mates can help us beat depression. In 2024, 70 riders who completed the entire route raised $55,001. On average, each GFB rider has raised $630 every year, raising $506,095 for Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney over the last nine years. In 2025, for the first time, Go for Broke will be running two events, GFB25 and VIC100. Funds raised for both will now be going to not one but three Lifeline offices – Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney, Macarthur Western Sydney and Central West at Bathurst. The two events go through the areas these Lifeline offices look after.
We have set no minimum that riders have to raise in the past because we want people to raise money, not because they have to, but because they want to. But starting in 2025 we’re asking every rider to aim for a minimum of $300. If we can do that, with a total number of 900 riders across both events, we’ll raise $270,000. If riders raise what each has raised for GFB B2B in the last eight years, we’ll raise a MASSIVE $567,000 or more than all the previous GFB B2B’s combined. LET’S DO IT and help us help Lifeline provide crucial front-line mental health services.
