GFB B2B is our one day 180km foundation bike challenge held on Saturday the 21st of September. The ride starts in Berowra on the northern edge of Sydney and finishes in Broke in the Hunter Valley. The ride is tough but we ride together in pelotons and support each other and the great work Lifeline does.
But make sure you conserve your energy. With 165km in your legs you’ll have your chance to see what you’re made of when all riders can Go for Broke for the last 15km.
VIC100 is an exciting new cycling event on Sunday the 24th of November 2024. It’s a 100km course from Penrith to Mt Victoria via Kurrajong and Bells Line of Road. We all know this road, going through spectacular & rugged scenery. But many cyclists never attempt this isolated and narrow route. That’s why the team at GFB have created VIC100, working with Transport for NSW and Police to close Bells Line of Road to all through traffic. After eight successful years running our Berowra to Broke event, the team at GFB want to give cyclists of all levels the opportunity to enjoy this stunning route supported and in safety.
The top three fundraisers get one of three limited edition yellow event jerseys on the start line. They are labeled either Gold, Silver or Bronze. When you see them on the ride congratulate them for their great achievement. As in the Tour De France, you might thank them by protecting and looking after them during the ride.
Lifeline is a national charity providing all Australians experiencing personal crisis with access to 24 hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. With depression and anxiety on the rise the work they do is crucial. One in five Australians have suffered or are currently a sufferer. On average 8 Australians take their life through suicide each day. You can’t just cure depression. It has to be managed with help, support and love given by those around sufferers of this debilitating disease. All funds raised goes to the great people and work that Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney do. Go for Broke use a third party donation site to ensure ALL FUNDS go straight to Lifeline. Representatives from Lifeline will be at the start line to send riders off and congratulate them as they cross the finish line.

Go for Broke is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers. We want to promote how cycling and cycling with friends can make a difference. For both guys and girls, young and old, from whatever walk of life you’re from, we want to share how riding through exercise and riding with mates can help us beat depression. In 2023, 80 riders who completed the entire route raised $51,483. On average, GFB riders have raised $650 every year, raising $450,000 for Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney over the last eight years. For the first time, Go for Broke will be running two events, GFB24 and VIC100. Funds raised for both will now be going to not one but three Lifeline offices – Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney, Macarthur Western Sydney and Central West at Bathurst. The two events go through the areas of these great Lifeline offices.
We set no minimum that riders have to raise because we want people to raise money, not because they have to, but because they want to. But starting in 2024 we’re asking every rider to raise a minimum of $300. If we can do that, with a total number of 900 riders across both events, we’ll raise $270,000. If riders raise what each has raised for GFB B2B in the last eight years, we’ll raise a MASSIVE $585,000 or more than all the previous GFB B2B’s combined.
